RN Schools in AlabamaThe nursing schools listed here offer RN programs approved by the Alabama Board of Nursing. Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN or ASN) programs take two years to complete. These programs attempt to teach the basic nursing skills quickly and allow the student to start working as a registered nurse as soon as possible. Many nurses start their careers by completing an associate degree program and later go back to school for a BSN degree. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) programs take four years to complete and are increasingly preferred by employers. BSN programs place more emphasis on theory and liberal arts than ADN programs but have similar clinical practice requirements. Registered Nurse (RN) ProgramsSamford
